Chat History

Every conversation you send is saved automatically. You never have to press "save" — you can close Arketic, come back later, and pick up exactly where you left off.

This page shows you where your past conversations live, how to find a specific one, and what to expect when you reopen it.

Where Your Conversations Live​

There are two places to reach past chats:

Recent chats in the sidebar

Recent (Sidebar)​

Your most recent conversations are listed in the sidebar under Recent, newest first.

  • Click any title to reopen that conversation.
  • The conversation you are currently in is highlighted.
  • A conversation you have not named yet appears as New conversation.
  • If you have never chatted before, the sidebar shows No conversations yet.

At the bottom of the list there is an All Chats link that takes you to your full history. Clicking the Recent heading itself opens the same page.

Above the list, the New Chat button starts a fresh conversation at any time.

tip

The sidebar only keeps your latest conversations within easy reach. If something is not there anymore, it is not gone — open All Chats and look for it there.

The All Chats Page​

The All Chats page is titled All Chats, with the subtitle "Browse and search your conversations". It lists your conversations so you can browse or filter them.

What each row shows​

Moving through pages​

Conversations are shown 20 at a time. Underneath the list you get numbered page buttons plus arrows to step to the previous or next page.

The page numbers disappear while you are filtering. That is expected — filtering looks across everything at once, so there are no pages to step through.

Finding a Past Conversation​

  1. Open All Chats from the sidebar.
  2. Click the box at the top labelled "Filter this page...".
  3. Start typing a word from the conversation's title.
  4. The list narrows as you type. Click the conversation you want to open it.

When the box is empty you see the page you are currently on. As soon as you type something, Arketic looks across all of your conversations — not just the page in front of you — so you do not have to click through pages to find an old chat.

If nothing matches, the page shows No results found. If you have no conversations at all, it shows No conversations yet.

caution

The filter matches conversation titles only — it does not look inside the messages. If you cannot remember the title, try a word you most likely typed in your very first message, since the title is taken from it.

How Conversations Get Their Names​

You do not name a conversation yourself. Arketic takes the name from the beginning of your first message, so a clear opening line gives you a title you will recognise later. Longer first messages are shortened, with the rest trimmed off.

A conversation that has no name yet is shown as New conversation.

tip

Open with a specific first line — "Quarterly budget summary for the marketing team" — rather than "hi". Months later, that title is what you will be scanning for.

note

There is currently no option to rename or delete a conversation from the Recent list or the All Chats page. The title comes from your first message, and conversations stay in your history.

When a Conversation Is Saved​

A conversation is created the moment you send your first message — not when you open the chat screen.

That means:

  • If you open a new chat, type something, and never send it, nothing is stored.
  • If you start a new chat and leave it empty, it will not clutter your history — Arketic clears the empty one out when you start the next new chat.

Continuing a Conversation​

Open any past conversation and simply keep typing.

  • The full message history loads — scroll up to reread older messages.
  • The AI still has the context of that conversation, so you can refer back to earlier points without repeating yourself.
  • Attachments you added to that conversation are loaded again and can be referenced in follow-up questions.
  • Sources shown under previous answers are still there.
  • At the top of the screen you see the assistant's name, with the conversation title underneath it.

In a long-running conversation you may see a short notice that older messages were summarised. Nothing is lost from your view — you can still scroll up and read everything. It simply keeps long chats responsive.

Privacy​

  • Your personal conversations are private to you. They are not part of anyone else's chat list.
  • The exception is Project conversations. A chat that belongs to a project is shared with the members of that project by design, so the team can follow the same thread.
