Departments

Manage your company's departments and teams — their structure, managers, working hours, and which assistants they can use. Admin access required.

The Departments Page

Go to Organization → Departments.

  • Search departments by name
  • Add Department — create a new department or team
  • Department cards — each shows a Department or Team badge; drag cards to reorder them
  • People panel — browse members grouped by department, with the manager marked
  • Quick Overview — totals for Departments, Members, Teams, and Sub-departments
  • Needs attention — a banner flags departments with no manager; click Review to fix them quickly

Creating or Editing a Department

Click Add Department (or open a card and choose Edit Department). Fields:

info

Departments can be nested to any depth (e.g. Company → Engineering → Frontend). A Department can't be placed under a Team.

Teams

A Team is a kind of department for smaller working groups. Create one by setting Type to Team in the department form. Teams appear with a Team badge and count toward the Teams total in the Quick Overview. You can also assign people to teams when inviting or editing a user.

Working Hours (SLA)

Each department has working hours — start and end times plus working days (Monday–Friday, 09:00–18:00 by default).

These hours are used for SLA calculations: time outside working hours doesn't count against a task's SLA timer. Set them to match when the department actually works.

Organization-wide Assistants

Some assistants should be available to everyone, regardless of department. On the Departments page, the Organization-wide Assistants card lists these and lets an admin Manage them.

  • Organization-wide assistants are available to all departments
  • Allowed Assistants (set per department) add extra assistants for that department only

Department Detail

Click a department card to open its detail view: members, sub-departments, teams, assigned assistants, and its manager. You can drill into sub-units and step back with Back, or use Edit Department / Delete.

Deleting a Department

  1. Open the department
  2. Click Delete and confirm
caution

Deleting a department also removes its sub-departments. Reassign members first so they don't lose access to department-scoped features.

Tips

  • Mirror your real structure — the hierarchy should match how your company works
  • Assign a manager to every department — use the Needs attention banner to catch gaps
  • Set working hours accurately — they drive SLA timing on tasks
