Project Memory
Every project has a Memory panel: a short, shared list of the facts that matter for that work.
Some of those facts the AI picks up on its own while you chat in the project. Others you write yourself. Either way they stay with the project, they are visible to everyone in it, and they save your team from explaining the same thing over and over.

Where to find Memory
- Click Projects in the left sidebar.
- Open a project by clicking its card.
- On the right-hand side of the project screen, find the Memory panel.
When the project has facts stored, the heading shows how many, like Memory (7). Next to the heading there is an Add button.
The right-hand panels — Members, Instructions, Memory, and Files — are hidden on narrow screens. Use a wider window or a desktop browser when you want to work with memory.
Where facts come from
Each fact is marked with a small icon that tells you who put it there.
| Marking | Icon | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| AI-learned | Lightning bolt | The AI noticed something important while you were chatting in this project and saved it for later. |
| Manually added | Person | Someone in the project typed this fact in themselves. |
Both kinds behave exactly the same afterwards: any member can read, edit, or delete either one. Each fact also shows how long ago it was added, for example 2d ago.
Treat AI-learned facts as a first draft. If the AI remembered something slightly wrong, correct it — the whole project sees the corrected version straight away.
Fact types
When you add a fact you choose what kind of note it is. The type is shown as a small coloured tag on the card, which makes the list quick to scan.
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
fact | Plain information about the work that everyone should know. |
decision | Something the team agreed on, so it does not get re-argued later. |
preference | How the team wants things done — tone, format, style, ways of working. |
technical | Technical details, settings, or requirements tied to this project. |
deadline | Dates the project has to hit. |
contact | Who to talk to about what. |
fact is selected by default, so you can save a quick note without touching the dropdown.
Adding a fact
- Open the project and go to the Memory panel.
- Click Add. A small note box opens.
- Type your note in the box — the placeholder reads Add a fact, decision, or note...
- Pick a type from the dropdown next to it.
- Click Save.
A Memory added message confirms it, the box closes, and the new fact appears in the list.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Note box | Where you write the fact. Up to 2000 characters. |
| Type dropdown | Sets the fact's type. Starts on fact. |
| Save | Stores the fact. Stays greyed out until you have typed something. |
| Cancel | Closes the box and throws the text away. |
Any member of the project can add a fact — you do not have to be the owner. See Project members for the full list of what owners and members can do.
Reading the facts
Facts are shown as small cards. A long fact is shortened to one line so the panel stays readable.
- Click a card to expand it and read the whole note. The arrow on the right turns to show it is open.
- Click it again to collapse it.
If the project has more than four facts, only the first four are listed, followed by a Show N more link. Click it to see the rest; the link then becomes Show less so you can fold the list back up.
Editing a fact
Any member can correct any fact, whether the AI added it or a colleague did.
- Click the fact's card to expand it.
- Click Edit. The Memory Detail window opens.
- Change the text in the box.
- Click Save changes.
A Memory updated message confirms the change.
What the Memory Detail window shows
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Type tag | The fact's type — fact, decision, preference, technical, deadline or contact. |
| AI-learned / Manually added | Where the fact came from. |
| Time | How long ago the fact was added. |
| Text box | The full note, ready to edit. A counter under it shows how much of the 2000 characters you have used. |
| Delete | Removes the fact. |
| Cancel | Closes the window without saving. |
| Save changes | Saves your edit. Stays greyed out until you actually change the text. |
You edit the wording of a fact here, not its type. If a note ended up under the wrong type, delete it and add it again with the type you want.
Deleting a fact
There are two ways to remove a fact:
- On the card, click the small × on the right.
- Or open the Memory Detail window and click Delete.
Either way a Memory deleted message confirms it.
Deleting is immediate — you are not asked to confirm, and there is no undo. If you are not sure, edit the fact instead of removing it.
When the panel is empty
A brand-new project has no memory yet. The panel shows:
No memories yet. The AI will learn as you chat.
You do not have to do anything about this. Start working in the project and facts will begin to appear on their own — or click Add and write the first few yourself.
Who can change memory
| Action | Owner | Member |
|---|---|---|
| See the memory facts | ✅ | ✅ |
| Add a fact | ✅ | ✅ |
| Edit a fact | ✅ | ✅ |
| Delete a fact | ✅ | ✅ |
Memory is deliberately open to the whole project: the people doing the work are the people who know when a fact has gone stale.
Everything in the memory panel is shared with every member of the project. Keep personal or confidential details out of it, and out of the project generally — see Project members.
Tips for good project memory
- Write facts, not essays. One idea per note is easier to scan and easier to correct later.
- Use
decisionfor things you do not want re-opened. A one-line record of what was agreed, and when, saves a lot of repeated discussion. - Put dates in as
deadline. They stand out in the list and stay in front of the whole team. - Clean up as the work moves. Delete facts that are no longer true instead of leaving them next to the correct ones.
- Memory is not the same as instructions. Memory holds what is true about the work; Instructions tell the AI how to behave in this project. Use both.
